We are asking for a reusable bag initiative called the Bellingham Model, that has been adopted by 14 other municipalities in Washington, including all of Thurston County, and Seattle. That's why the NW Grocers Association is also lobbying to adopt this policy so that Kent businesses aren't inconsistent with Washington's largest markets.
Bag Busters of South King County is asking the Kent City Council to vote in favor of a reusable bag ordinance that would ban plastic bags, and charge 5 cents for paper ones. The 5 cents would not apply from anyone purchasing their items with WIC EBT or SNAP, and would go back to the retailer.
To help, please join us to provide testimony on Tuesday, Dec 13th, 7pm for a Citizens' Forum at the City Council meeting (Council Chambers at Kent City Hall, 220 4th Avenue South.)
